• Good tutorial on Premiere 6

I'm currently editing a 53 minute film on 5.5 and its driving me crazy. 6 looks like it fixes most of the problems i have with the old Premiere and also looks shares a lot of FCPX's better features.

  • Zacuto make a user friendly rig

This is beautiful, a rig made with usability in mind, you can focus with one hand and set exposure or record with the other... it's taken 3 years for these guys to notice that would be handy. It'll cost a bomb but it would definitely be worth renting.

  • New Juiced link RM333

I know everyones nuts about the Zoom H4N but i will never be happy synching audio in post. I've got an older Juicedlink pre-amp mixer which i use and since i upgraded to the 60D its been a beautiful experience. The new range actually remove a lot of the great features such as the headphone out, AGC and levels meter becasue the new Canons are placing those features on the cameras themselves. The RM333 looks like a great audio solution for anyone buying the MK3.

  • Canon C500 and 1DC

All the camrea blogs have been reporting on the new Canons announced this week, one 4k DSLR and another in their new Cine range. Of all the bits i've read though i think Phil Bloom sums it up best

"Oh did I mention that 99.9% really don’t need 4k? Future proofing? Sure that’s nice but not needed for the vast majority of my work. I still shoot some SD jobs!! The C300 shoots AMAZING quality full HD and I don’t see me needing much more than that for a couple of years. The FS700 is different. I would not be buying that for the 4k (again unseen) but for the stupidly fast speeds it can shoot at. Please do not get caught up in the misconception that you need 4k. We are only now finally getting good super 35mm sized full HD! 4k is a long way from being supported in production houses, a long way from being in people’s homes as standard. It also is huge workflow. With the 1Dc being around 3.75 gb per minute in 4k mode. That’s a lot of storage and computer power to work with that! Right now, in my opinion it’s far from essential."

I'd shoot 4k on a feature but until then i'm sticking with HD
